The Indian Premier League 2022 is scheduled from April 2 to June 3 with 10 teams this season ( 8 existing team and 2 new teams). The Ahmedabad Franchise owned by CVC Capitals and Lucknow franchise owned by Goenka Group are the two new teams for the season.
74 matches will be played this season with each team playing 18 matches (9 home games and 9 away games). All 10 teams have already retained their core and they will build the team around them . The two new teams Ahmedabad have drafted Rashid Khan, Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Lucknow franchise have choosen Kl Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi as their drafts picks.
The Ahmedabad Team have already announced Ashish Nehra as coach and Gary Kirsten will be the mentor of the team. With Hardik Pandya will do the captaincy role for the first time in IPL. While the Lucknow franchise have appointed Andy Flower as coach, Vijay Dahiya as assistant coach and Gautam Gambhir as mentor of the team with Kl Rahul leading the side.
While the Lucknow franchise have named their team as ” Lucknow Supergiants ” , where as the Ahmedabad Franchise have named their team as ” Ahmedabad Titans ” , according to reports
The auction for the season 2022 all set to take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and February 13. With mega-auction and addition of two new team we can see more players will get chances this season.
